My time at Dorel allowed me to grow as an individual both as a professional and as a senior creative. I expanded the range of countries I have worked with, and my exposure to those markets has allowed me to sharpen my skills. My biggest managerial achievement during my time at Dorel was to bring a new order to the creative processes and effecting flow and level of output across departments. Creatively my biggest success was the launch of the 2019-2020 flagship convertible car seat, the Vita Smart and Pro. This was a dual launch for both products and combining product features to the new Safety Shield technology. Ran over 2 months with a digital teaser campaign and along with the first-ever Successful and approved Baby Bunting PDQ display only enhanced with the news and extended campaign of our success at The Good Design Awards. The Vita Pro and Smart took on its competition and was a clear winner for the consumers 7x out of 10 during its first 5 months of sale. The Vita Pro and Smart are known at Dorel as the most successful product and product launch campaign ever to come out of the Australian market.
While at Companion Brands I had been given the opportunity to work on some great new marketing programs and full range releases. These projects had been the full design of the new lighting range to be sold in all Supercheap Auto stores and the complete presentation, product design, packaging design and marketing campaign for the brand Tradeflame and to many more to mention.
Mid 2015 I reached a new millstone now having designed for 14 countries across the world on a wide range of projects including, product design, packaging design POS and FMCG, brand management and development, advertising, and marketing materials. Each project being unique and having there own challenges. I was heavily involved in all projects and on the front line dealing with clients first, second and third tier, suppliers, production teams in Australia and overseas, managing budgets and timelines, also heavily involved in the design aspect of all these projects from concept, final artwork through production.
Other successes through my career had been the Cold and Flu Season and the Scented product ranges. This was an ongoing project for 2 years however at the end of 2015 both projects were completed and re-launched as the “Natural Cold & Flu Season” range and the “Natural Relax Scented” range, the complete product ranges had been produced and distributed in 12 countries. These projects consist of the design and production of pillows, pillowcases, pillow protectors, socks, slippers, scarfs, and teddy bears, incorporating packaging, point of sale displays, catalogues, sales presentation boards, and promotional images. These items had been produced and translated and supplied in productions files with custom dyelines.
In my seconded year, because of the high standard, quality, and success that I had contributed to Sam Burrone Design we managed to secure a huge client, Walmart USA. The opportunity was to create, display and present the new look style for Walmart’s automotive accessories packaging range. In addition to this we were to create the new products to accompany this packaging. This project took a total of 26.5 hours with a completed 20-page presentation and a new exciting range of automotive accessories. These new look products and packaging were produced and sold all through the USA.
Within my first year at Sam Burrone Design I had the privilege to work with amazing clients some of which were Pink Ribbon, Sabco, HRT (Holden Racing Team), VicRoads and the UFC. The Pink Ribbon projects was to create a range of products namely, umbrellas, gumboots, raincoats, beanies, slippers, blankets, and trolley bags. These products were to be organised on sale presentation boards within a budget of 10 hours. This project was completed within 6.5 hours to a high standard, and as a result these products have been sold within Priceline, BigW, Woolworths and their online stores, in addition we had secured an ongoing long-term client.
